1. Origin and location<\/h3>\n

Opened in 2005 by the Izagirre family<\/strong>, the winery was conceived to enrich Biscay\u2019s wine culture and redefine and develop its txakoli, selling it in the Basque country, Spain and further afield.<\/p>\n

The winery is located in Larrabeztu, just 15 minutes from Bilbao: the perfect place to experience Biscay\u2019s gastronomy in all its splendour.<\/p>\n\n

The characteristics of our vineyards, particularly the steep southeast-facing slopes, allow for gentle morning sun and strategically aerated spaces. This helps to ensure optimal grape ripening and, in turn, premium wine quality.<\/p>\n

Bertol Izagirre and his winemaker, Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Calvo, are the driving force behind this project that seeks to recover and redefine Biscay txakoli. Almost two decades since it first opened its doors, the Bodega Gorka Izagirre has sold bottles to clients in more than 15 countries worldwide and won various international awards.<\/p>\n
